Volunteers from the British Red Cross will in and around Portman Road tomorrow collecting donations for the Asia Tsunami Disaster Appeal.

The disaster has so far killed over 125,000 people and there will be a minutes silence before kick off tomorrow as a mark of respect.

Town Chairman David Sheepshanks: “The sheer scale of damage and tragedy associated with the horrific tsunami disaster has shaken the world, at Ipswich Town we would like to add our condolences to the families of the tens of thousands who have lost their lives and our best wishes to the millions who have suffered damage and loss.

“Given the unprecedented nature of the ordeal faced by so many, we have decided to allow a collection at the ground and all proceeds will go to The Red Cross Asia Earthquake and Floods Appeal. Thank you in advance to those who feel able to support this cause.”
