A stoppage time goal from Clarke Carlisle denied Town their third win of the season at Portman Road this afternoon. As reported by STB yesterday Town manager Roy Keane did drop Jon Walters and strip him of the captaincy, handing it to David Norris. Andros Townsend, who was signed on-loan from Spurs in the week was given his debut and started on the right in place of Walters.

Town started brightly with Tamas Priskin firing over, Townsend firing just wide after running at the Burnley defenders.

Despite Town's early control it was Burnley who came closest to scoring first, catching Town on the break Dean Marney found an unmarked Ross Wallace on the left wing, he managed to evade Jaime Peters before crossing into Wade Elliott who only had Fulop to beat, but Town's ‘keeper was up to challenge and sent the ball over the bar for a corner.

Town's best chance of taking the lead came when, Townsend's low cross evaded the Burnley defenders in the six-yard-box before finding Stead at the back post with no-one to beat, but his effort lacked power allowing a David Edgar to clear off the line.

Town were forced into a change at half-time, in the dying moments of the first half Grant Leadbitter went down under a challenge from Clarke Carlisle and had to be replaced by Colin Healy.

Burnley were reduced to 10-men with 11 minutes still to play when David Edgar was sent off for a second bookable offence after pushing David Norris over as the midfielder looked to make a run.

The 2nd half saw very clear cut chances, even Town's goal came a little unexpectedly. Town were awarded a corner which Healy sent deep into the box, Stead headed down for Norris to back heel into the net.

It looked like all three points were staying at Portman Road until the 92nd minute when Clarke Carlisle rose above the Town defence from a corner and headed into the bottom corner.

Not disapointed with a point, just disapointed with how we lost it.
