Reports are in that the German Goalkeeper tryed to commit suicide by being hit by a train.

But he was not killed by the train.  But was so badly injured that he died at the scene.

He leaves behind his wife and a eight month old baby they adopted in May. They lost their daughter in 2006 of a heart condition.

He has not played in the last 4 games for his team Hannover as he was ill with a virus.

The German team are due to play a friendly on Saturday but he was ruled out of the team as he only has just come back from being ill.

He did play for his clublast weekend and the club are deeply in shock.

Reasons why are not out yet but a news conference is set to take place Wednesday 12.30GMT
