Town are being linked with a loan move for Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Shittu, but he won’t arrive in time for tomorrow’s game against Nottingham Forest.
The 29-year-old is yet to play for Bolton this season and could be willing to drop down a level in order to get first team football again.
Town manager Roy Keane: "I won't comment on players who aren't at this club, and there won't be anyone coming in before tomorrow, but I'm still very hopeful of bringing in two more loan players. We'll be making a few more calls over the next few days."
Bolton`s Danny Shittu was sent off in a reserve game against Blackburn Rovers last night after conceding a last minute penalty. Shittu has been linked with numerous clubs including Chartlon, Nottingham Forest, Ispwich and Newcastle United, and is set to sign for Sheffield United on loan if Alan 'Porky` Nixon of the Daily Mirror is to be believed.
The Nigerian`s new employers should be aware of his clumsiness. Whilst playing for Watford in the 2006-7 season, Shittu upended Idan Tal in the penalty area, when he was no threat on goal, and Gary Speed converted the resulting spot kick to give Bolton an entirely undeserved victory. It seems that old habits die hard.
