Town midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski has left Portman Road and joined Preston North End, signing a three-year-deal earlier this week. PNE manager Alan Irvine: "He was a player we enquired about when we were looking for someone to help us when we had a problem with midfield players at the back end of last season, unfortunately we couldn't get him at that point and obviously we have kept an eye on the situation and I am delighted that we have managed to sign Shumi now.
"When Jim Magilton was the manager at Ipswich they were actually talking about a new contract for him. Obviously Roy has come in and he has got his own ideas about what he wants for the team and that wouldn't appear to include Shumi.
"Shumi being the type of lad that he is wants to play all the time and he has decided that he needs to get away from Ipswich if he is not going to play every week.
"I believe that he can continue to play a very big part in English football, he's very ambitious, he wants to go to the Premier League and I hope that that will be with us."
