Town closed the gap on the top six to just four points, after beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Portman Road yesterday. Town took a 14th minute lead when James Perch headed Tommy Miller's free-kick into his net, looping the ball over Paul Smith.

Forest had a goal ruled out for a foul on Richard Wright late in the first half, but that was their closest first half effort.

David Wright gave Town a 2-0 lead with 30 minutes left to play, just inside the 18-yard box Wright is picked out by McAuley before firing the ball low into the net.

Nathan Tyson scored for the visitors, setting up a slightly nervous finish in which time Forest hit the post.
