Singing The Blues message boarder Leggi is back again giving us an insight into Town's opposition, on Tuesday Barnsley visit Portman Road.

Last seasons FA Cup semi-finalists, Barnsley, make the long 184 mile trip down the A1 from Oakwell on Tuesday night, having won just one game this season, scoring a measly 4 goals along the way.
Simon Davey's Tykes, ended just 3 points outside the drop zone last season, and it looks to be another struggle this season too after Barnsley's poor start. The South Yorkshire club kicked off this campaign away at Loftus Road, losing 2-1, they then lost by the same scoreline at home to Coventry City. A 2-0 defeat at Birmingham City followed, then, The Tykes only win (so far) arrived, against Derby County, 2-0. 1-0 defeats away at Blackpool and at Oakwell against Cardiff City soon brought Barnsley back down to earth, then two 0-0 encounters followed, with Southampton (A) and Norwich (H). Which leaves Davey's club second bottom in the table only saved from last place because of Nottingham Forest's inferior goal difference.
The Tykes' Carling Cup run ended at the first hurdle, losing by 2 goals to nil at Gresty Road, Crewe.
Leading the Barnsley attack on Tuesday will be summer signing Iain Hume, who has scored 2 of Barnsley's 4 goals this season, and Former Town loanee Jon Macken who unsurprisingly has yet to find the net so far despite taking a penalty on Saturday.
Last season the two teams played out a 0-0 draw at Portman Road and a 4-1 win for Barnsley at Oakwell despite Ipswich taking the lead through Pablo Counago. It was probably Town's worst performance of the campaign in freezing conditions.
Tuesday's referee is Mr Fred Graham, who has only took charge of Town in one previous game. Our 2-1 victory over Blackpool in February this year. Mr Graham issued no cards at all during the game.

An August bank holiday fixture saw The Blues run riot, winning 6-1, with goals from, Mark Venus, James Scowcroft, David Johnson (2), Richard Naylor and Jim Magilton. Our only ever loss to Barnsley came in 1998, The Tykes winning by 2 goals to nil.
The highest attendance is 20,585, who witnessed a 5-1 win for Town in April 2007, with goals from Danny Haynes, Franny Jeffers, Gary Roberts, George O'Callaghan and Jon Walters. The lowest gate of 7,379, watched a Division 2 game in 1991, Chris Kiwomya and Paul Goddard on target in a 2-0 win.
Our leading all time scorers against Barnsley are Chris Kiwomya, Dalien Atkinson, and Ian Marshall, who each netted 3 times. Alex Mathie and Richard Naylor amongst 8 players who scored twice.
17 players have represented both clubs in some way over the years, they include, David Johnson, David Geddis and Richard Naylor.
Leggi Predicts: This is it, I feel. Jim's D-day. If we fail to pick up anything less than 3 points, I think he will be getting his P45 come Wednesday morning. Sadly (or not so sadly) though, I think this is where Norris's 'spanking' is going to take hold and will by Jim's safety net for another few weeks. This is going to be a rout, I can feel it in my bones. 6-0 to Town.

Counago can keep and hold the ball he isnt the quickest so it makes sence to put him in a holding role, and bam bam and Miller can forget about it , all bam bam does is long balls all the time, and miller should be shot!
I think you will win but it won't be a rout. Muller is back in goal and we have conceeded no goals in the last 2 games.
Our problem is scoring goals, we should have beaten Norwich on Saturday. With Brian Howard going to the Blades we now have a better midfield.

Kevin Friend from Leicestershire has been named as a late replacement referee for Tuesday's game with Barnsley, taking over from Fred Graham who was initially down to cover the match.
Friend, who has shown 28 yellow and one red card in eight games so far this season, is best known by Town supporters for sending off Fabian Wilnis at Plymouth twice in successive seasons.
Last season's 1-1 home draw with Sheffield United was Friend's last Town game.

They couldn't wish for a better opponent then us seein' as our confidence and lack of finishing ability is getting worse every game. Don't like to be a doom & gloomer but not lookin' forward to this like I should be!
