Town Bid For Ameobi?

Reports elsewhere on the internet suggest Town have bid anywhere between £3.5 million and £4 million for Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi. The 26-year-old striker spent part of last season on-loan at Stoke City, who at one time seemed favourites to sign the former England U21 striker who made 6 appearances for Stoke.

Town have thrown something on the fire, refusing to comment on the reports, with a spokesperson saying: "We are aware of reports today linking Ipswich Town Football Club with Shola Ameobi but we will not be making any comment on the matter."

Norwich City are also reportedly in the frame to sign Shola who has a good friendship with Norwich boss Glenn Roeder.
