Town climbed back into the play-off places after a 1-1 draw with Nigel Pearson's Southampton side at St Mary's earlier today. Southampton started the better side and left Town with just one meaningful shot on target in the first half, but thankfully Southampton were unable to convert the possession into goals during the first period of play.
Norris had the first chance of the second half but he was denied by the finger tips of former Town goalkeeper Kelvin Davis. Southampton took the lead soon after when Stern John evaded challenges from Richard Naylor and David Wright before firing past Stephen Bywater.
The lead didn't last too long, 5 minutes in fact before David Norris drew Town level, Pablo Counago's pass found Norris on the wing who cut in before firing past Davis to make it 1-1.
Both sides had chances to win the game in the final 35 minutes, David McGoldrick fired into the side netting, Stern John fired straight at Bywater and sent another effort wide while Idiakez forced Bywater into a top class save as well as firing an effort over the bar. Alan Lee had the best chance to snatch it for Town but he was denied by a last stitch tackle from Wayne Thomas.

Town go back up to 6th in the Championship, ahead of Plymouth who were beaten 3-0 by West Brom today.
