No Rush For Defender

Town manager Jim Magilton says he will not rush into buying a new defender after the move to sign Cesar Navas from Malaga collapsed earlier in the week. Jim says he will be using Town's younger players as cover at the back for the next few weeks before perhaps bringing a loan player into Portman Road.

Jim: "Chris (Casement) has made huge strides and we are very happy with his progress.

"Tommy Smith will be back from Korea soon as well and we think very highly of him so we have got cover from within the squad.

"David Wright played in the middle of the back four at Crewe and Wigan so he is another option should Alex or Jason take a knock.

"We will have another look at the situation after the Watford game and we have got contingency plans should we need them but I'm certainly in no rush to bring in another defender. If we do bring someone to the Club it will be a loan player."

Town are without two defenders for the game against Watford tomorrow with Richard Naylor out injured and Fabian Wilnis suspended.
