What an opening game. Trailfinders at home  kicks off the Championship season (Saturday 3.00)  and there could hardly be tougher opposition .  

Blues go into the game off the back of a long "pre-season" and one which has heralded much promise - this game will show us whether the optimism is justified.

The win over Tigers a fortnight ago undoubtedly gave Mike Rayer some selection heradches for the nitty gritty of the league campaign.

He has made four changes from that team with skipper Alex Day now fit to resume at scrum half. Jordan Ventner will partner Michael Le Bourgsois in the centre while up front both Joey Conway and Luke Frost start.

Trailfinders give their first start to Bill Twelvetrees and come into the game on the back for four Championship Cup wins.
