Last Ditch Loss

Next season it will be Mike Rayer's turn to win with last minute scores. What goes around will hopefully come around.

With one minutee left on the clock at Lady Bay the Blues went ahead for the first time with a penalty ty from Maisey and for once we thought we had sneaked the win.

However, we failed to close the game out and gifted Nottingham a tricky penalty shot which Dolly successfully kicked to give his side a 22-20 win.

It had been a poor first half. Things improved in the second and the overall perfromance bodes well for the  derby next week which sees Ampthill close our season.

Match reports for much of this curtailed season have spoken of performances that bode well for the next game. In truth, and strictly as far as results show, we have not turned match experience into a winning performance. Two wins in the entire campaign is a very poor return and our inability to shut games out in the last quarter has been our downfall in a number of games.
An interesting comment in a previous thread from a 'neutral' (I fancy he might be a Saints fan) questions whether, or not, the Northampton loanees are good enough for the Championship. I certainly think that Bedford needs to have some gnarled and experienced front row operators of our own for next season.
Ampthill will not roll over next Saturday, home crowd or not, and will provide a very difficult test for the final game of the season. Their game is not pretty to watch but it has proved to be quite successful in the two seasons they have spent in the Championship.
