Ipswich Town's young Irish striker Ronan Murray has joined League Two side Plymouth Argyle until the end of the season on a loan deal.

With the signing of three new strikers in David McGoldrick, Aaron McLean and Frank Nouble since the start of 2012, Murray is unlikely to get any first team action at Portman Road so the player has been allowed a temporary move from Portman Road in order to give him some much needed first team experience.

Speaking of the loan deal for Murray, who has previously spent time on loan with Torquay and Swindon, Town boss Mick McCarthy commented: “Ronan is going there and he’s going to go and play some games.

"John Sheridan (The Argyle boss) is somebody I know personally and he plays the game in the right way. He likes to play football and I think Ronan will enjoy it.”

Murray made his debut as a sub for Town in the League Cup clash against Exeter City in August 2010, scording his first, and to date only goal for the club, Murray went on to make his first start for the club in April 2011 against Preston in the Championship.
