QPR manager Harry Redknapp says that there are seven or eight Npower League Championship clubs interested in signing 31 year old striker DJ Campbell.

The marksman returned to parent club QPR from Town following the last game of his loan spell, which was the 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton on New Years Day having scored 17 goals 10 games. Campbell made his return to the starting line-up of the London club against West Brom in the Cup on the same day.

Town manager Mick McCarthy and the player himself stated they would consider the prospect of a full contract at Portman Road and McCarthy last week admitted little has changed despite the loan signings of Aaron McLean from Hull City and David McGoldrick from Nottingham Forest on loan.

However, Town face stiff competition to sign the Hammersmith born forward, as former West Ham boss Redknapp outlined: "I've had seven or eight clubs in for DJ Campbell from the Championship.

"He gives everything. I like him a lot as a lad. He has got a good attitude. He will be handy for us. I wish I had had him here a month ago."
