Town striker Michael Chopra reveals that he believes Alan Shearer should be the next manager of the club following yesterdays dismissal of Paul Jewell.

The former Newcastle United striker who played with Shearer during his time at St James' Park revealed his pick via social networking site Twitter: "A disappointing day yesterday with Paul Jewell leaving want to wish Paul all the best in the future.

"Now a massive game Saturday need to get this great club back where it belongs who do the fans want as manager? I would love to see Alan Shearer as manager such a good person and played under some great managers including Sir Bobby Robson."

Shearer's only experience of management to date has been a two month spel as manager of Newcastle United in the 2008/2009 season. Shearer took over for the last two months of the season but ultimately was unable to save the club he supported as a child from relegation. 

Since leaving Newcastle following their relegation from the top flight, Shearer has been linked with a number of jobs such as former club Blackburn Rovers and also revealed he applied for a job with fellow Championship club Cardiff City, despite talks taking place with the Bluebirds, Shearer admitted they were not successful. 

Elsewhere despite yesterdays rumours relating to a possible move that would see Dougie Freedman becoming the new manager at Portman Road, it is understood that Bolton may finally appoint the former Crystal Palace striker as their new boss in the next 24 hours leaving Town to move on to other targets.
