Town skipper Carlos Edwards believes the addition of Nigel Reo-Coker and Stephen Henderson to the squad until January will spur the club on as they aim to climb up the table.

West Ham United keeper Henderson has joined the club on loan, whilst former Bolton and West Ham midfielder Reo-Coker has signed a three month contract with the club.

Many fans have criticised Town boss Paul Jewell for the number of short term signings at Portman Road, but midfielder or full back Edwards believes that have extra faces at the club can only be a good thing.

“The new boys have settled in really well and it’s important to have a strong squad. We all know how tough the Championship as a division is and having competition for places throughout the squad is something that you need." he told ITFC.co.uk.

"Nigel (Reo-Coker) came in a few days ago and you can see in training already what qualities he has and you would think that he had been here ages!

“But all the lads are working hard ready for Saturday’s game against Hull and there’s a good spirit in the camp at the minute, despite our league position."

Town head into this weekends game against Hull City 23rd in the Championship with points needed sooner rather than later if Paul Jewell is to remain in charge.
