New Striker in the next couple of days?

There are reports that Newcastle are hoping to complete their third signing of the summer, in the next couple of days. This time a badly needed striker.

Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga remains the first choice with the general manager Michael Preetz stating:

“There will be a decision next week, and it is only about three clubs: Hertha, Hamburg and Newcastle.”

However should that fail hey will revive their interest in free agent Bafetimbi Gomis.

Wage demands are thought to be a stumbling block over any move for Gomis.

A more likely move may well be Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who’s club Borussia Dortmund, are understood to be keen to unload the player who they signed for £10.6m and has struggled to make much of an impression in the Bundesliga.

Whoever it may be we desperately need to replace the goals that have left with Loic Remy, with Cisse injured and miss-firing when not, Shola gone, strikers are fast becoming an endangered species at St James.

This story makes not sense, both players play in the Germany league and also scored 13 goals, yet one had a good season and the other didn't! Aubameyang score the majority of his goals from the subs bench, imagine what he could be capable of if he had a good run in a team....if any of the stories are true and Dortmund want rid of him, NUFC should break the bank to get him, he's like lightning...

What can be relied upon is we will not break the bank for anyone. I just hope we manage to get a striker over this bloody famous line.

It's about time that they are going to sign a player. I'm only 11 and It's all been rubbish apart from Cabaye,Ba,Cisse.I'm looking forward to the signings.

Why would a team pay £10m+ and give a 5 year deal with a £6m release clause in his contract?

There are conflicting reports on this release clause. Personally I don't think it exists but that just my opinion

Continental clubs often put in clauses like that to cover themselves if the player isn't a success, it means they can get rid of them easily, these clauses can only be activated if the player fails to play in a certain number of games or score a certain number of goals etc, if the player plays every game and scores a load of goals the clause will simply disappear.
