Never once did it seem to occur to anyone, to give him a microphone and backing music. Hence the rise of karaoke in pubs has always mystified me. 

Other things confuse, my brain, my daughters love of Justin Bieber, how the old people that walk on to the road without looking, forcing me to preform an emergency stop have lived long enough to be....well old people I suppose. 

There are other things I don’t understand quantum physics, nuclear physics actually most physics, the continuing appeal of reality TV. 

But from a footballing point of view the main thing I fail to understand is why Ashley wants to own Newcastle United. 

He is after all an extraordinary successful business man, you would think that if he had bought my club as an ego trip, he would actually want us to win something. 

Surely it cant be to make money? I mean owning a football club, seems to me a bad way to make any cash at all, it does seem a fairly good way to lose it though. 

I keep hearing its about the free advertising (something I will be honest here, irritates the hell out of me, just pay for it for gods sake, buy a player with it). 

But even that seems a rather lot of hassle for a relatively small return (from an Ashley standpoint obviously). 

There is obviously no local connection, so that can’t be it, he appears to loath the fans almost as much as the vast majority loathe him. 

His continuing 5 years plans, seem more akin to Stalinist russia, just replace the words Champions league in 5 years, with increased tractor production and the are all but interchangeable, and of course equally deluded. 

This coming the day after the sale of Cabaye, may seem like a rant about losing our best player, and to a point I suppose it is. However I don’t blame Cabaye for leaving, where is our future? 

In a world where we consider top 10 a really successful season, 5th worthy of constant praise, we are always likely to lose the more talented and ambitious players. 

We are told that it is our model, to buy cheap and sell high. 

Why? 

We are a massive club, with a massive fan base, we should not be a mere feeder club, however that is what he has turned us into. 

Even with his undoubted business skills, we are actually making less money now, than we were, notice the drop out of the top 20 richest clubs? 

So I leave this piece with no answers what so ever, simply a question.
