Montpellier Attempt To Up Interest In Cabella by Using NUFC

Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin has been quoted saying that he expects Newcastle United to make a bid for midfielder Remy Cabella this week, after failing to be contacted by Manchester United despite their alleged interest. As Newcastle United are yet to announce their intentions, the comments would appear to have been made to ramp up interest in the 23 year old whom the French side expect to sell at the end of the season.


Nicollin told Midi Libre;

"Manchester has not sent any proposal. As for Newcastle, it seems to me they are about to make one, but I expect confirmation on that. But the idea is still that Remy is with Montpellier until June."

Head coach Rolland Courbis said of the situation;

"Remy Cabella? It is best to keep him but if Loulou [Nicollin] decides that it can be done in January, it will be in January."

Just two days ago Nicollin dismissed the link with Newcastle saying that there had been "absolutely no contact" with the club.
