Newcastle United host the lunchtime kick off tomorrow on the back of two consecutive defeats in two different competitions. They lost the derby game against Sunderland last weekend only to be the better side against Manchester City in the Capital Cup in midweek and then concede two goals in extra time. Newcastle have won two, lost three and drawn one of their last six games in all competitions, whilst Chelsea travel on the back of six consecutive wins. 

Newcastle, who have spent the week offending the local media by banning them from media facilities at the club, are likely to be without Fabricio Coloccini (groin) who is still not expected to be fit, despite being back in training. Steven Taylor (hamstring), Paul Dummett (hamstring) and Massadio Haidara (hamstring) are all unavailable with no return dates.

Chelsea are only without Marco van Ginkel (knee), otherwise they have a fully fit squad and three points would put them top of the League.

Pardew told us nothing we didn’t already know when speaking about Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in his pre-match press conference. He said;

“Because he has that flamboyant character and he can be amusing and articulate in the same sentence, it sometimes takes attention away from the professionalism he brings to the training ground and the organisation.

I always find when you play him, his teams are very, very well organised and very difficult to break down, and that's why he gets the wins he gets.

You can see Jose is comfortable at Chelsea and you can see in his demeanour that he is at the top of his game at the minute, so it's tough to cross swords with him when he is like that."

Fact: A win would be Chelsea’s 7^th consecutive win in all competitions.

Fact: Newcastle have won just one home game this season.

I don't have BT either Carys but I was able to watch one of the WTA semi-finals on it last week.
It looks like I'll have to find a good stream but I'll look at the BT channel just in case.

A very big and dare I say stylish win. This is also why Newcastle delights and frustrates me in near equal measure, these games show what they're capable of but they need to show it more consistently. Great win today and I love being able to taunt the Chelsea fan at work today

What a f00king result. Great second half and so pleased to have been there as missed last seasons fixture.

Thought everyone played well today, especially Debauchy. Think having someone in front of him, and a steady CB like Willliamson next to him, has made a big difference.

Dave, totally agree with you about Anita. He hasnt put a foot wrong this season but normally loses out. Think its a bit of a easy choice for Pardew. Cant really argue that Tiote has looked like getting back to his best but Sissoko has been poor for the most part. Players should be in on form, so Pardew should continue with his form of dropping Ben Arfa.

Goufran and Remy were superb and put some graft away. An out and out centre forward would make such a difference in the same way Giroud does for Arsenal. I love Cisse for the way he "flew" into town put I fear that he is never going to get back to how he was. Sad to say but imagine Ba leading that attack.

Anita's form does mean he deserves a starting place but you couldn't pick him ahead of cabaye or tiote at the minute, which means it would be Sissoko who probably gets picked ahead of Anita due to his physical presence, if we dropped Sissoko our tallest midfielder would be Tiote at 5"10, then Gouffran @ 5"9, Cabaye @ 5"8 and Anita @ 5"7.

Sissoko had his best game of the season yesterday and debuchy is getting better with every match not only going forward but in defence to, he is starting to show why he's a french international and why we were so desperate to buy him.

I also think our improvement in play over the last couple of games is down to playing Ameobi, the team are benefiting from having a striker who they can aim for, if we had Ba in the team we would probably be in the top 6 or 7 at the minute

I couldn't agree more about Shola mental. He's a presence in attack and defence. He isn't easily muscled off the ball either.

On his showing in the last few games, Williamson deserves to be called a steady CB.

Shola has a fantastic goals and assists record per minutes played. Unfortunately, some bafoons seem to think that we should look at goals/assists per matches played, and treat 90-minute appearances equally with short sub appearances. If you look at goals/assists per minutes played, Shola is up there with the very best.

Bobby Robson benefitted greatly from having him in the team, in his wonderful 5 years as manager of Newcastle, Roeder's marvellous 7th place was largely due to Shola's goals and Pardew's 5th place team was also greatly helped by Shola's goals and assists.
