Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has been punished for his three match absence at the beginning of the season. Cabaye who was a summer target for Arsenal failed to play after having his head turned by the club who put in an initial offer but failed to come back with an improved bid after being rejected by Mike Ashley. Manager Alan Pardew has now gone on record ahead of this weekend's game against Hull City saying that the Frenchman has been disciplined for his actions and has accepted his punishment.

Whether right or wrong to be commenting on the situation in a press interview, Pardew said;

"He's been disciplined for his actions this week. He accepted that in good faith and therefore we move on now.

It had to come for the players here and players elsewhere. Until the contract is signed with another club there is a responsibility to the club you're at. He accepted that in good faith and he was brilliant last week.

It's now dead and gone and we just want, and I want Yohan, to perform to the best of his ability. He's been brilliant again this week. Trust me he's a fabulous player and very important to us."

He added;

"I think it would be nice if our 52,000 give him the support he now deserves for at least apologising for that and taking the punishment that came with it."
