HT: NUFC Score From a Corner For The 1st Time Since 2011?

Newcastle United lead Blackpool 1-0 in the Wonga derby at Bloomfield Road after Shola Ameobi apparently scored from a Yohan Cabaye corner. Yes you read that right Newcastle United have apparently scored from a corner for the 1st time since 2011 when Demba Ba did just that against Wolves. 

Shola put the ball in the back of the net in the 5th minute of the game, making it his third goal in three games during this pre-season.

It could have been 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Cabaye crossed the ball to Santon, who was tackled before it reached Marveaux, the chance then blocked by a Blackpool defender. Then in the 44th minute Yoan Gouffran played the ball to Sissoko who put it in the back of the net only to see the referee’s assistant had his flag up.

HT: Blackpool 0 – 1 Newcastle (Shola Ameobi)

 

Attendance: Overall 6863, Newcastle Attendance 2384.
