Shrewsbury Town Sign James Tavernier On Loan

Newcastle United defender James Tavernier has signed for Shrewsbury Town on a months loan after a trial match against Birmingham City on Tuesday night. The 21 year old has previously spent time out on loan at Gateshead between January 2011 and March 2011, Carlisle between August 2011 and November 2011, Sheffield Wednesday between November 2011 and January 2012 and MK Dons from January 2012 until he was recalled by Newcastle due to injuries.

Judging by the history of his loan spells, Tavernier who was signed by Newcastle in 2008 is likely to have this stint extended if all goes well.

Since the end of the season Newcastle have either released or put out on loan 6 players who made appearances for the club last season.
