Wigan Athletic have put in a formal bid for Newcastle United defender James Perch according to the Daily Mirror, whilst the Sportsdirectnews website reports that the Championship side were preparing a 500k offer. However, NUFC.com, who are usually pretty accurate report that the figure is nearer £700k with a move being imminent. Perch has just a year left on his Newcastle contract before becoming a free agent next summer, and with The Journal's Mark Douglas having reported that Pardew had tried to get the 27 year old a new deal but was knocked back by Mike Ashley it looks certain he is on his way out the door.
Perch joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in July 2010 on a four year deal for an undisclosed fee.
he's worth at least double that maybe even 2million, of all of the back up players at the club he would have been one of the last i would have got rid of. i guess its all down to wanting to get something for him before his contract expires.
Its funny how things go, at the start of last season i was desperate for us to sell him.
He covers 4 positions, i know he's not the best footballer but he always gives his all and who will we rely on to come on off the bench and try and snap an opponent within seconds.
I'd much rather see us get rid of the likes of Williamson, Gosling and Obertan before Perch.
I agree with all of the above comments about Perch and Simpson. I wouldn't have been in such a rush to get rid of them.
As you say we could come a cropper if we don't get decent replacements for them.
I too agree Perch should not be leaving full stop imo, yes he isn't the greatest but always gives 100% and is so versatile, I thought he give an honest performance especially when playing DM, I would far rather get rid of Gosling.
The willo deal has gone quiet they must be taking a while to agree terms.
seems like we are going to sell everyone we are willing to let go and then recruiting new players, the company i work for did this recently and then panicked when they realised they didn't have enough staff to meet their contractural requirements.
I keep thinking there is a big signing coming. This could be blind optimism I will grant you. But you would of thought Kin-hell would like to parade something big.
i really thought kinnear would go all out for PEA to show off and get a big name player in to mark his arrival but as you say i think its just blind optimism.
I think Joe K. said he wanted someone signed up by Friday so he has time yet to impress the fans.
C'mon Joe make a name for yourself. Oh! wait, you've already done that. Buffoon.
