Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson has agreed terms with Queens Park Rangers for once his contract with Newcastle ends on July 1st. Simpson who has been released from his contract will link up with his new team-mates early next week.

The 26 year old spoke of his admiration for QPR manager Harry Redknapp via the club's official website. He said;

“I want to play week in week out. That was the main thing for me. Harry wants me playing and he wants me involved.

He’s a top manager, and as soon as I spoke to him I knew this was the right move for me. I’ve always admired him. He is a great man in the game and I have a lot of respect for him.

From what I have heard from Harry and the staff I have spoken to, along with some of the players here who I know well, they are very determined to put things behind them and start afresh and get back into the Premier League where the club belongs."

He also said thankyou for the Newcastle fans in an interview on their official club website. He said;

“I have been here four years and they have been tremendous with me, so I’d like to say a big thanks to them. It was emotional to do that lap of honour (on the last day of the season) especially with my little one. She was born in Newcastle so technically she’s a Geordie and that game was quite an emotional day – but a nice day as well.”

He also added that the whole four years at the club had “been just class”.

QPR you've got a good one there, good luck Danny. I would had wanted him to stay but can't blame him not want to be a bench warmer, I might be the only one but I thought he's a good knowledgeable player, n he's goal line clearances and he got a bit of speed save a couple of points for us, good luck with Dirty Harry tho
