Why Would NUFC Pull Douglas Talks? Who's The Other Option?

Despite Newcastle United having chased FC Twente defender Douglas Franco for the best part of two seasons, it would appear that the plug has now been pulled on the move. Douglas who is available on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the month had representatives due to fly into England tomorrow for talks with the club, but have now confirmed that Newcastle have told them they are no longer interested in the 25 year old.
Now, it leads to the question, why would we be turning down a defender on a free transfer without even discussing the possibility with the player’s representatives, when earlier in the week it was reported that Joe Kinnear would be upping the clubs efforts to sign him?
As Kinnear said earlier this week “There’s hardly anyone in the business I don’t know,” we should all be expecting some pretty decent signings this summer……..
Haven't QPR been paying him between £60 and £100k a week (depending on reports)?
He would have to be prepared to take quite a pay cut and he signed a 4.5 year deal in Jan this year and has no get out clause Would cost us a fair bit.
Well after he stops peeping through windows with wenger and calling fergie up to tell him what they've seen , maybe kinnear has got messi's mobile no and gonna bring him in I mean come on he did sign shearer for us from under Man Utd nose ill just wait to see how he pronounces his name before I get mine printed
Everytime we hit a new low I thing it can't get any worse and I'm proven wrong , god help us with what Ashley's next move is gonna be our club is no longer a football team it's a f&*king joke
be happy with samba. or lets face matters as our new dof will soon refer to him sambo. while I appreciate this could appear racist, its not I believe everyone is equal. I hold everyone in mutual contempt.
Joe is messing up everything. Reason for Douglas is because Joe said he doent know much about him. but he said he knows everyone. AND if graham carr leaves we should get ready for the championship because he got us some good players for cheap
Apparently Llambias had been working on the Douglas deal for weeks and Kinnear pulled out because he'd never heard of him. This is allegedly why Derek resigned.

This is more of a witch hunt. I remember they supposedly pulled out a year or so ago. I think it had something to do with his attitude. They did similar with Gerviniho, but im sure he would have joined Arsenal anyway.
We may not have even been in for him or have pulled out. JFK said the club had been talking to him for weeks, so I doubt he would leave a day after he was placed in charge, if it hadnt already be planned.
Story i heard was Llambas had done the deal for Gervinho and He and pardew and the club secretary flew down to london to sign him and it was the first time Pardew had met him so they had a little meeting for the 2 of them to meet and Gervinho sat through the whole thing on his Blackberry and Pardew and Lalambias decided hs attitude wasn't right and walked out.
JFK said in the talksport interview it was 10days they had been talking for, i think DL has seen the @#$%& storm the appointment has caused and decided he doesn't want to be involved in it.
The player Kinnear prefers over Douglas is James Tomkins of West Ham
