Riot Police Deployed To Fans At Newcastle Train Station

Riot police have been deployed to Newcastle train station after the side lost 3-0 to arch rivals Sunderland. With both sets of fans making their way home this afternoon it appears some have got unnecessarily out of hand. Sunderland fans were held back by police as Newcastle fans set fire to bins, threw glass bottles and set firecrackers off at police horse. The main concourse was closed due to the incident.

Northumbria Police tweeted the following in response to the disorder;

"There have been pockets of disorder involving #NUFC in #Newcastle city centre, no major disruption, officers are on scene and dealing."

"CCTV and evidence is being gathered and action will be taken against anyone involved in these sporadic incidents in #Newcastle #derby."

Neither club will be pleased to be associated with such behaviour after the violent disorder displayed by Millwall fans at Wembley yesterday who continued to throw punches for over 5 minutes before police were on the scene.

The news comes as Northumbria Police released a press statement  earlier this morning confirming that a 24th person had been charged with Violent Disorder after an incident between Sunderland fans and West Ham fans back in January.

Not a good day for football fans in the North East.

Stupid stupid idiots just accept the fact we were beaten fair and square on the day and move on. Get a life for goodness sake thought those days were finished with obviously not unfortunately!
