Newcastle United have remained tightlipped over the departure of striker Nile Ranger who has finally left the club. The club released a simple statement yesterday evening stating that the 21 year old, who was recently arrested after an allegation of rape was made against him, had left the club by mutual consent.

"Newcastle United can confirm that Nile Ranger has today left the club by mutual consent," a club statement said

But that was it, no fanfare just a simple exit from a club which has lined his pockets for far too long with no return whatsoever.

Ranger has also been suspiciously quiet for someone who is so vocal on a normal day. Prior to the club annoucement he has tweeted his happiness. We can only assume he either knew his fate and was setting the scene to look like he couldn't care less or he had no idea what was to come.

Tellingly he has refrained from tweeting since the news broke.

The Telegraph last month reported that the club had tried to sack Ranger in the past but he had rallied his lawyers to argue his case and was success in his appeals. Once the rape allegation broke, Alan Pardew refused to acknowledge questions on the subject and it would seem that this was the final straw.

Ranger will struggle to find another club, with Newcastle having clubs turn down the opportunity to loan him for the season and take him on permanently at the end. The club have been trying to offload Ranger for nearly 3 years. Back in 2011 Birmingham wanted Ranger on loan but refused to agree to keep him. Newcastle then pulled the deal and he went to Barnsley on loan.

Then last October Sheffield Wednesday offered him a deal which he rejected, infuriating Toon bosses.

Pardew had previously commented on Ranger's lack of commitment to the club and said that he didn't think he had it in him to prove he wanted to play for Newcastle United. He said;

“This guy is late so often, it is unbelievable.

He’s still at this football club and we’re still trying to do something with  him.

But he will still not get back in the team unless he has a period of six  weeks where he isn’t late. I don’t think it is going to happen."

On 25th February Ranger summed it up nicely when he tweeted "Some people just can't be fixed."

I don't know whether its upbringing or bad choice of acquaintances, but Nile Ranger typifies an underclass of youth today. Their desire to attain 'respect' opposite their peers results in such an acute arrogance and rejection of any structure and discipline that transcends any logic. He could have had it all and now he has nothing. Once his money runs out, and it will very quickly, he'll be left with little more than memories as he sinks back into the @#$%& he spent so much time trying to impress.

Remember what potential he had? He had a huge impact in the win v Liverpool and 4-4 v Arsenal back in 10/11. What a waste, there's kids who would kill for what he had.

There's no denying he had talent but he hasn't developed due to his poor attitude, he probably would have benefited from being loaned straight back out to a lower league club and not give the massive contract and given something to aim for!

The long contract did seem to be a turning point yes, he never kicked on after that and in hindsight it was a bad call.
