Newcastle United travel to the Ukraine for tomorrow evening’s game against FC Metalist Kharkiv. Neither team have played since they met last week at St James Park, where Newcastle kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw. During that game Papiss Cisse had two goals ruled offside and missed several other opportunities. This time he will need to find the back of the net.

The game comes too soon for midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa (hamstring) who has returned to training but will be kept on the sides until the weekend Premier League match. Davide Santon, who started last Thursday game has been rested and will not play, however, Yanga-Mbiwa, Massadio Haidara and and Moussa Sissoko are all available.

Mathieu Debuchy and Yoan Gouffran are both ineligible for the competition.

FC Metalist have a fully fit side, having played just one competitive game since last December. Their new signing Oleg Krasnoperov is yet to play for them and will be hoping to make his debut.

Metalist coach Myron Markevich said ahead of the game;

"I think it's level. Our chances to win are equal and our chances to go through are equal.  As I said after the first game, Newcastle are a very good team and they shouldn't be in the position they are in. They should be in the top 10 minimum."

Meanwhile Shola Ameobi is convinced that Cisse can start scoring, he said;

"Papiss is pretty easy-going and he knows he is going to get chances playing in this team.

With the players he has got behind him feeding, he is going to get chances to score goals, and hopefully he can do that on Thursday.

When he gets on a roll, there's no stopping him, so hopefully he can keep getting into those positions and he can start banging them away.”

This will be a tough ask they move the ball very well. Let's hope we can stay positive and get through to the next stage.I can't see it being a classic but I'm looking forward to watching the game.

shola is doing well, i would get anita to go wide and him and marveaux whip crosses in for ameobi!

The players need to be careful the ref is giving free kicks for anything and everything and i can see there being a penalty given

Great result hostile place to go and get that result. Who do we play next?As soon as Shola stepped up to take the pen knew where that was going to end up. I hope none of our fans were hurt after the game not the most friendly of places by all accounts.
