Newcastle United travel to Villa Park for tomorrow’s midweek game against Aston Villa. Newcastle hope to be rejuvenated with five new signings, but play on the back of four defeats and draw from their last six games, whilst Villa host on the back of two back to back cup exits and three defeats, two wins and a draw from their last six games in all competitions. Their two wins have come in the FA Cup and Capitol One Cup. 

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew could offer club debuts to Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran, all of whom he has signed in the last two weeks. However Pardew has confirmed that Haidara will not feature but will travel with the squad.

Steven Taylor (hamstring) is now fit, however Hatem Ben Arfa (hamstring), Danny Simpson (toe), Dan Gosling (knee), Haris Vuckic (knee) and Ryan Taylor (knee) are all unavailable.

Yohan Cabaye (groin) was taken off against Reading 10 days ago, but is expected to feature in tomorrow’s game, much to the satisfaction of team-mate and best friend Mathieu Debuchy, who has been singing his praises.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is without Herd (ankle), Albrighton (ankle), Gardner (knee) and Fabian Delph (ankle), but Richard Dunne (groin) and Nathan Baker could start.

Agbonlahor and Benteke could also return, having been rested at the weekend, but Villa have brought in no new signings in a bid to steer clear from the relegation zone which both clubs currently hover above.

Fact: Aston Villa have only scored one goal in their last six games at Villa Park.

Fact: Newcastle have beaten Aston Villa 18 times in their Premier League career, the most wins they have had over a single club.

It's a must win game considering its Chelsea and Spurs up next. I think we'll win 2-0 after soaking up early pressure I think Villa will crack. God I hope so!

Great result, chuffed with the win, signings looked really good and can only get better. Also it has finally getting that away win on the chart which will give us massive confidence going forward.

I think with the result, signings and players back from injuries the team should be buzzing again. Hopefully a shock result against either of chelsea or spurs and it could kick stat the season.

The 2nd half wasn't too pretty, I missed the penalty, was it dubious at all? But we did manage to hold on, just mind you, so that was a plus too. But 1st half is how we should be playing 90mins against teams.

It was not a pen that gave Villa a way back in but it was a nervy second half. It's the result that counts and apart from my nerves been shot to bits I am very happy!

I think we played reasonably well considering the number of new players on the pitch. Stephen Taylor was back from a long lay off and Villa chased every ball as if it was an FA cup final.

The new signings made the difference in the new half and then seemed to drop off in the second which coincided with AV dominating the match, hopefully this was just due to the different pace of the premier league!

The guys actually showed a bit of fight in them during the match which has been lacking recently, closing down more and throwing themselves in the way of the ball!

Its great finally being able to make a substitution in midfield and being able to bring on a player with the quality of Anita rather than having to bring on Abeid and Bigi!

It was like a FA cup final for them, both teams knew that whoever lost would be dragged even further into the relegation battle and the team that won would build a little bit of a cushion between themselves and the drop zone!

That makes more sense as quite often players take a while to get off the pitch having been subbed usually in most games there is a minimum of 3 minutes at the end of the second half.
