Newcastle United are said to have agreed a £5million fee for Mathieu Debuchy, from Lille. The Defender who had been pursuaded to join the club by former team mate Yohan Cabaye has been vocal in his wish to move to the North East and it looks like once the transfer window is open it will be a done deal.
Debuchy will be a welcome addition to a thin squad, especially with the imminent departure of Danny Simpson, who is out of contract in the summer if not sold in January.
...Seriously thought we'd missed our chance in the Summer. Great signing.
Credit where it's due; the board are good at getting a good deal even if it does take longer to conclude...
Arguably the extra million in the Summer may have paid itself back with a higher league finish come the end of the season but hey ho.
He has periods when he is very good but does give the ball away at times and too many free kicks.I still like him as a player in general he's strong and covers the back four, usually well.He is not dynamic but when on his game I still see him as an asset.
