Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has brought Gael Bigirimana and Sylvain Marveaux into the side and started both Papiss Cisse and Demab Ba. Shola Ameobi starts on the bench despite scoring the only goal against QPR at the weekend. Sir Alex Ferguson has dropped Wayne Rooney from the squad let alone the team, whilst both Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes make the starting eleven.

David De Gea, Chris Smalling, Patrice Evra, Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Javier Hernandez, Robin van Persie.
