Roma, Parma and Palermo Ready To Offer Simpson January Deal

Series A club Roma are reported to have sent scouts to the North East to watch Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson. The 25 year old who is out of contract at the end of the season, has had his contract talks with the club put on hold until January. Manager Alan Pardew said earlier this month; 

"Danny will have to wait and see what happens in the window. The club has most players on long-term contracts and Danny is he exception to that."

Italian website Calciomercato are reporting that Roma are ready to put a bid in for him in January, whilst English tabloids have also reported intertest from Parma and Palermo who are allegedly prepared to offer 4 year contracts on £50,000 a week.

If Newcastle fail to negotiate with Simpson to keep him at the club, an issue which has been ongoing for far longer than talks with any other club player, then selling him in January would be the better option than allowing him to leave on a free in the summer. Replacing him however could be much harder...

Have you heard anything in the Italian press dave?

Can't see him going to Serie A myself - if he can't even get a renewed contract here....

No nothing in any of the ones I read, Santon got a mention this morning, linking him with Lazio, personally I think that's nonsense as well, but you never know I suppose.

Only Newcastle related thing for a while.
