Newcastle United host Manchester United tomorrow afternoon in a 4pm televised kick off. They go into the game on the back of a 3-0 win in the Europa League in midweek, with three draws, two wins and a defeat against Manchester Utd in the League Cup from their last six games in all competitions. Manchester United travel on the back of five wins and one defeat against Tottenham Hotspurs in their last six games of all competitions. 

Manager Alan Pardew, is expected to welcome back David Santon, Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa, whilst Yohan Cabaye who was a key figure in Thursday’s game but went off with a minor problem is also expected to start. Danny Simpson (hamstring), played in midweek and is also expected to start tomorrow.

Tim Krul (elbow), Fabricio Coloccini (hamstring), Steven Taylor (calf) and Ryan Taylor (knee) will all miss out.

The team will be confident after taking a point from a good Reading side last weekend and will start the game knowing that this time last season they took all 3 points off Manchester United in a 3-0 win.

Sir Alex Ferguson has Jonny Evans  (dead leg) available and should also have Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick back who have both been suffering from illness.

Manchester United currently have the highest number of injuries in the Premier League, with Antonio Valencia (foot) facing a late fitness test, Nemanja Vidic (knee), Jones (knee), Ashley Young (knee), Phil Jones (knee) and Chris Smalling (metatarsal fracture) all out.

Paul Scholes was also rested in midweek in preparation of the weekend’s game against Newcastle.

Fact: Newcastle have scored 88% of their goals in the 2^nd half of the game.

Fact: In the last 10 Premier League games between these two sides, Manchester United have scored 23 goals to Newcastle United’s 9.

Watched the game, and I didn't think we were that bad, the scoreline certainly flattered them imo. We did not show up the first 20 mins or so and let two goals in we really should have doen better with. Then I thought the rest of the first half we looked dangerous and how a goal before half time could have changed things.

2nd half we came out and created a bit again looking decent enough, last 20 minutes the pace of the game slowed right down with chances either way.

We were very unlucky not to get a pen when man utds star man howard webb failed to see evra grabbing cisses shirt right in front of him. Then the shot cleared off the line was one of thise could have went either way but I guess we have had a bit luck recently with things like that, sometimes they go your way sometimes they dont.

Unlucky lads pick yourselfs up this is the start of our season now, wake up and get amongst it.

Harper looked a bit shakey a few times and Tiotes passing was off today, everyone else seemed to put a shift in and was unlucky.

MOM for newcastle imo was Gutierrez he just runs and runs.

2 of 3 centre backs missing, 2 goals from set pieces. Not a coincidence. If only somebody had thought of buying one at some point.
