Pardew Given 2 Match Ban & £20k Fine

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been given a two game touchline ban and £20,000 fine for his push on the referees assistant in the first game of the season. Pardew, who immediately apologised for the incident, saying he was embarassed by his behaviour accepted the FA's decision to charge him and will now watch games against Everton and Norwich City from the stands.

Today's FA Statement read;

''Following an Independent Regulatory Commission held today [Monday 3 September 2012], Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been given a two match touchline suspension and fined £20,000 after he accepted an FA charge of improper conduct.

Pardew, who requested a personal hearing, was charged following an incident which occurred during his side's match against Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August 2012.

The suspension will take place with immediate effect.''

He acknowledged what he did was wrong - there's very little to contest with the decision (any hostility/antagonising towards an official should warrant punishment).

Fortunately he's got an extra week to drill it into the players how he wants them to set up against Everton...
