Rumour Has It....Liverpool Preparing Bid For Ba

Rumour has it that Liverpool FC are preparing a £7million bid for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba. Perhaps Brendan Rogers missed the memo reminding him that Ba's release clause can only be triggered by a Champions League Club? Or perhaps the fans have been dubbed once again and that specific detail doesn't really exist?
Speculation follows previous reports that Tottenham Hotspur, under Harry Redknapps reign, had also lined up a £7million bid for the Senegal International.
Ba took to Twitter 2 hours ago to respond to the rumour. He tweeted;
"Holla back everybody. So much stuff about me lately. Rumours are rumours! Just forget about it. By the way i had the best holiday ever!!"
Chelsea, Manchester United, Galatasaray and Paris St Germain have also been linked with a move for the 27 year old. The clause expires on the 31st July 2012.

If it is 7 million for any team then why hasn't someone bought him already?
Again, as with the Tottenham rumour, Champions League clause.
Liverpool do not have it.
Taking the release clause out of it, my guess is it'd take quite a bit more than that - the club does not need to sell and a bid of near £12m would almost entirely cover Luuk De Jongs asking price, possibly reopening discussions with Twente.
That being said - for that sort of money Liverpool would be morel likely to just go for De Jong themselves.

Its either a lack of scouting or teams like Liverpool are only going for big name players!
We seem to be a mile ahead of most if not all of the other teams in the premier league in terms of scouting, we are discovering players months before other teams, we are finding players with clauses in their contracts that other teams haven't got a clue about.

I hear you on the last point, but that's nothing new. Consider it flattery.
I still don't get it about Cisse and Cabaye being overlooked. Cabaye played for the French champions and was a newly-minted regular France international. Cisse got my attention a year before we bought him!

Maybe teams didn't want to take a chance on cisse and again it just shows our scouting is better than our competitors as our scouts could see that he would be a success!

As for Cabaye god knows why nobody else went for him, maybe none of the bigger clubs found out about the clause and thought he would cost a lot of money.

I don't like to think about how Cabaye would be the perfect replacement for Scholes. The only difference is Cabaye can tackle. Can't believe SAF's people overlooked him.

My son reckons Barca have a long term plan to field a team of dwarfs, that beat real madrid in order to humilate them on behalf of the basque nation.
Cabaye is the one player I really fear about losing, as he makes the team tick. I do think the Barca rumour is a load of rubbish, but have been saying to my mates he would fit into the Man U team
Problem with Rafa was that he could never get the better of him, so he fell by the side. Be interesting to see what happens to United once Fergie retires
Very interesting to see indeed. I think he'll be like Putin though-his influence won't go until he kicks it.
It will be a tough job whoever gets the post, as even though Fergie will be gone he will still be around the club, hopefully it will be the end of United, as if they do struggle for a couple of seasons and drop down the league then with their debt they could go in free fall
