Newcastle United's bid to land Modiba Maiga has failed after the striker failed a medical in London. Newcastle have now stopped the estimated £6million deal from progressing in the January transfer window.
The 24 year old, who went on strike from Sochaux last summer in a bid to force a move to the Premier League, was expected to sign a 5.5year deal and even requested a 2nd medical with independant doctors to prove his fitness.
Earlier this year he said;
"All players dream of playing for a club like that and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer.”
Whilst he agent, Karim Aklil said of the most recent developments;
“I am disappointed by the turn of events. Modibo is in perfect physical condition and this was confirmed by specialists.
I am surprised by what has happened since his medical and the diagnosis established by doctors authorised by the club.
I am convinced that the future will give us a reason and that Modibo will prove his effectiveness. He remains one of the best strikers in France."
