Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford this afternoon for the 2nd of three big consecutive Premier League games, whilst Manchester United go into the game have drawn in midweek to Benfica, a result which sees them rely on their final Champions League game to seal qualification.

However, Fergie’s men have five clean sheets from their last six games in all competitions, winning all but the Benfica game. Newcastle on the other hand ended their undefeated Premier League run last weekend against Manchester City and have three wins, two defeats and one draw from their last six games in all competitions.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has had a fantastic start to the season, with injuries being limited and results being plentiful, until recently when the injuries have started piling up and the knock on effect has been noticeable in parts of the game.

Today he is without, Sylvain Marveaux who is expected to be side-lined for up to four months after surgery on his groin, whilst Cheik Tiote (knee) and Leon Best (groin) both remain a doubt.

Worryingly Captain, Fabricio Coloccini is also a doubt after suffering with a back spasm which could see him miss out. If he doesn't play it will be the first major change to Pardew's defence this season and will ruin the consistency his team have built up in defence.

Gabriel Obertan has recovered from an infected toe and is expected to start against his former team-mates and Danny Guthrie is looking to start, despite a minor hip problem he encountered earlier in the week.

Demba Ba is expected to resume his role up front, but it remains to be seen whether Pardew will reward Sammy Ameobi with a starring role against Manachester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson has a fully fit defence, with Nemanja Vidic returning to the back four, but injury problems across the rest of the field. Anderson is out with a knee problem, as are Tom Cleverly (ankle), Michael Owen (thigh) and Danny Wellbeck (muscle strain). Wayne Rooney (hip) has been declared fit depending on what report you read, so he may or may not feature, whilst Berbatov (ankle) should be fine to play.

Pardew goes into the game hoping to avoid what would be only his 3^rd back to back defeat, and the side’s first since March of this year.

Prior to this game Newcastle have 21 yellow cards, whilst Manchester United have picked up 16 bookings and 1 sending off so far this season.

Congratulations to Steven Taylor who is expected to make his 150^th League start for the club :) .

Fact: Manchester United have won all of the 17 Premier League games between the two sides at Old Trafford; scoring 37 goals to Newcastle’s 9.

Fact: Newcastle United are 8 points better off at this stage of the season than they were the last time last season.

not bad.
One thing that has concerned me this season is the long ball up the pitch by Krul every single time.
Try and count in the second half how many times we actually win a header from it, it hardly ever happens!
And without Best in the team it is pointless doing it.
May as well just keep rolling the ball out to united and asking them to take another shot.

Great to draw level but real shame about Jonas. Thought that he might put Ben on the left but suppose he might lack the discipline that Loven may have. Not sure where he has put him.

Sammy could do a job there.

Rarely have I seen a goal lived such a charmed life as ours in the second half. But as Carys says, we'll take it. Mancs can't really have many complaints-or if they do, they should be directed at Macheda, Rooney and Young for some very questionable finishing.

Krul is without a doubt my MOTM, but every one of the back four had their moments when needed.

Indeed too bad about Jonas, as the second yellow was in no way necessary.

I'm delighted with the point away at the champions. We may have been lucky with the penalty but we sure were unlucky with their goal so it cancels each other out. We played well and if anything deserved the point we got. The team showed great spirit and fought for everything. Well done lads, as a fan I'm delighted!
