Newcastle United have granted Hatem Ben Arfa a leave of absence so he can visit a sick family member in Tunisia. Ben Arfa who has just recovered from long term injury, was expected to play in tonight's reserve game against Bolton Wanderers, but will now spend the International break with family.
The 24 year old, who has grandparents in Tunisia was granted a weeks leave back in February of this year to visit family just after the country was hit by the full force of anti-government riots. He also stayed there just after breaking his leg last year in the initial stages of his recovery.
He should be back in time for Spurs game on 16th October 2011.
Newcastle reserves beat Bolton reserves away from home 3-0, with Sylvain Marveaux scoring twice after Sammy Ameobi opened the scoring in the 24th minute.
