Newcastle United have failed in the bid to sign striker Bryan Ruiz from FC Twente and Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell after both deals fell through. The club had a helicopter on standby to take Ruiz to the club to finalise arrangements, but it has been reported that he failed to turn up for the meeting.
Ruiz was in the process of deciding whether to move to Newcastle or Fulham after both clubs had bids agreed for the 26 year old.
