Joey Barton is allegedly in talks with Queens Park Rangers today after the London side made an approach for the midfielder. QPR owner Tony Fernandes is rumoured to have offered the 28 year old a 4 year deal on wages of £60k a week, eight grand a week more than his current salary.

QPR Manager Neil Warnock made the following statement on transfers after being handed cash to spend before the transfer window closes next week. He said;

"I'm going to be busy now. I'm doing 12 weeks work in eight days and I'm finding it very, very difficult and tiring," he said. I hope we get one in before the weekend just to start the ball rolling.

It will all be Monday or Tuesday next week. I don't know why it happens like that.

We are looking to bring in good players. It's easier said than done even if you've got money.

The chairman is really trying his hardest. I spoke to him last night and he's as excited as I am.

He wants me to have signed them yesterday. You don't often get a chairman like that. It's usually always about next month."

Whilst Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that Joey will not feature in tomorrow’s Carling Cup game against Scunthorpe Utd due to a minor foot injury, he does however expect him to start against Fulham at the weekend.

Barton has previously said he would only leave Newcastle for Champions League football, QPR who exited the Carling Cup last night after losing 2-0 to Rochdale are newly promoted to the Premier League, and are favourites to go straight back down to the Championship.

He told talkSPORT back in June;

"I love being at the club and I've got no ambition to leave.

If someone came in, for instance, hypothetically and offered me Champion's League football, then whether I had signed a five, six, seven-year deal at Newcastle, I'd have to consider it.

But that's not the case at the minute and as far as I'm concerned, unless someone comes in and can offer me the opportunity to play at the next level, which is obviously the Champions League, then for me it's a no-brainer."

He has just Tweeted that he is going for a medical now. We could all see it coming but I will still be p155ed off on both sides. On the owners for letting one of our best players leave after such a good start. Also at Barton for not just keeping his mouth shut and seeing out his final year.

Fingers crossed Gosling stays fit.

Hard to knock him going somewhere where he's wanted by his employers.

One of few instances anymore where I feel for AP, who actually seems to grasp how important Joey is to the squad. But again, he has no influence over players' comings & goings.

Joey Barton's hands are not tied, as he claims. He started both our games so gar, it's not like he's rotting in the reserves.

Regular first team football at a club he supposdely loves can't be that bad. If you think we've got dodgy owners what about QPR?!

For the record, I agree about the "hands are tied" comment. I just can't be bothered to comment on it as it never surprises me when a guy who's been handily rewarded for kicking a ball his entire life isn't a great rhetorician. He should have said: "going somewhere where I'm wanted, surely all can understand that."

He is not wanted by the people at the club who make personnel decisions-I'm not being pejorative when I say that's not AP, who admitted as much when commenting on our approach to Maiga. If he were wanted, he would have been offered a contract.

When a player plays he is playing for his team mates, his manager and for the fans, not the owner. Why should he be bothered that the owner doesn't want him when he is still under contract (for now) and being played?

I've seen many analogies constructed comparing his situation to that of workers in nother fields, so bear with me.

I like my supervisor and the other guys in my unit. We're a team and we all work for each other. BUT, if the management tells me I'm never getting another raise, they're thinking of letting me go next summer and, oh yeah, we've fired two of the best guys in your unit and replaced them with kids from overseas-I'd be looking for another job sharpish and my coworkers and clients would, for the most part, be completely understanding.

Is that not important, i!? Yes, I would leave my job for better pay as long as the new firm weren't patently evil. Also, I truly believe Fernandes has more ambition for QPR than Ashley does here. You can't discount that. Laugh all you want, but I remember the absolutely dire sides that City was putting just five seasons ago.

I assume twitter is nothing but all bullshit, all the time. I can't stand social media in general, though.

Joey is definitely doing his best to make Joey look good, but for the good of the club our front office should not have allowed this situation to develop. If nothing else, put him on the market immediately, accept a knockdown price and get in a replacement. But that would be asking way too much of the idiots currently in charge...

1> ban them from using twitter gainst the club.
2> put him on the list.
3> knock the price right down to zero.

1. They banned twitter after the fact, something that the FA has warned may not be legal. Not sure of the niceties of British law, but I doubt it's so very different from over here that an employer can lay down a ban on a mode of communication.

2. & 3. I didn't say nothing, which will be part of the internal reasoning for not replacing him, but a knockdown price. Make it known he's available and sell him to the first club that offers a million or two. The only reason no bid could possibly come in now is that AshleyCo. got all huffy and put him on a free after Barton called them out. How can they be so on about finances and then offer Joey for free? No doubt-Barton has acted like an ass through a lot of this, but the club has played into his hands. The reason teams are scared off of him now is NUFC's strenuous (over)reaction to his twatter rants.

As usual, the devil is in the details and, as I've stated repeatedly: Ashley and the people he has working for him at the club are completely out of their depth.

You can't blame the lad in going, as if your employers make it clear you don't have a job longterm then you look elsewhere. He will be a huge loss to the team, but then if he was never going to be offered or sign a new contract and the possiblity of him being a kn@b on twitter then it may be the best.

The lad would have killed for the team - literally. When it comes to the games where you dig deep he would have chipped in but in a way I am glad it is over so we can move on.

Even though he waa a @#$%& when you first came, a big thanks for last season and hopefully he will do well at QPR, but obviously not get against us
