Newcastle United’s attempt to sign Mevlut Erdinç has falled flat after the 24 year old failed to agree personal terms. Newcastle lodged a bit for the Turkish International, on Tuesday, which was agreed by Paris St Germain, however, reports suggest the club were not prepared to meet the players wage demands.
A “source” close to the club reported;
“The move for Erding is now dead in the water and they are looking at other targets. They weren’t prepared to pay him what he wanted because they are trying to run a tight ship wage-wise and that’s why has decided to stay put.
They are now scratching their heads as to what to do next because as far as I know they do not have a specific target in mind now the Erding deal has fallen through.
But one thing is for sure - they will be sticking to their guns and going for a young, up-and-coming player.”
The news has been confirmed by Erdinç’s agent Pierre Frelot who said;
“He will not be going to Newcastle. The player decided not to move and he is staying in Paris next season.”
Was he really the quality you want as our No9 (dont think so).
Was it a smokescreen for another move, rumour has it someone will be in before Darlington. If MA wants us to be hitting harder than the Mackems next season he needs to be clever and ambitious.
I would love to see Papiss Demba Cisse from Freiburg a 15M Euro buy - powerful, good feet and a good head.
