Barton Dismisses West Ham Talk

Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has dismissed reports he is on his way to West Ham to join former team-mate Kevin Nolan, by confirming his return to Newcastle for pre-season training on Twitter.

The 28 year old who has 12 months left on his current contract at the club tweeted;

"Contract negotiations not re-opened. Back to NUFC on Tuesday, Happy days.

Why would I drop down a league when I can more than hold my own in the Premiership?

What benefit would it give me? None. I play this game to play against the best week in, week out."

The Mirror newspaper are currently running a story suggesting that Newcastle have put Barton up for sale for a minimum bid of £4million.

1. Twitter is f00king stupid, in general. I mean, are you rapt with Cahill's tweets about his table tennis matches? At least this has some substance.

2. He's right-he is too good for the second division.
