Should Toon Accept Improved Offer For Carroll?

It has been suggested today (Saturday 29th January) that NUFC have rejected an offer of £23M for hotshot striker Andy Carroll. The bid supposedly came from Tottenham Hotspur where manager Harry Redknapp is known to be an admirer of Carroll’s skill.
The young striker has bagged a respectable 11 Premier league goals so far this season but is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.
Will Tottenham return with an improved offer or will they accept that our club simply does not wish to part with Carroll?
Or Would you welcome his sale? - £23M is a lot of money and would become a record fee for a Newcastle player.

Can't sell. There's absolutely no guarantee-some would say no implication-that Ashley would reinvest the cash, and even if he did I don't think you can replace Carroll. In any case, the rumor comes with the statement that Ashley rejected the bid when I've read it.

No for three reasons.
1st it doesn't matter how much we sell him for Ashley wont spend it on players anyway.
2nd Even if he gave us the money, who are we going to get to replace him?
3rd. its about time we had a young striker, who has a certan loyalty to the area.

Ashley isn't going to sell Carroll for anything close to that figure for one very important reason: Staying in the Premier League is worth more money than what Spurs are offering. Carroll is the reason we can stay up, not only this year, but next season as well (see Birmingham and Wolves). For all his faults as a club owner, he is a business man, and he wants to make his money back.
In order for Ashley to sell Carroll, he's going to have to be offered at least 40% of the revenues lost should we be relegated. Nothing else will be enough.

no he shouldnt sell him not at that price. Look at the mackems 18mil for bent, who have they replaced him with ? The market is way over inflated after the stuipid fee payed for bent by a desperate villa.

"Reports" (and we all know how accurate these mysterious deadline day reports always are) are a 35 mil agreement with liverpool has been reached.
Problem with accepting a bid this late is that it will be hard to get someone to cover..

as for getting someone else in to replace he's was considered a long term injury anyways wasnt he? needing a specialist from norway to look at his thigh
Ashleys not going to hoy his hand in his pocket for the big wages, If Liverpool is going to fork out £35m paying 100k a week wages wont be a problem either

I suppose every player has their price but Im glad they have knocked back the two offers. Its just come up that sources say we would accept 35 mill but again, why would they say that. Let the teams bid.

this is wrong. we have to accept that the entitled clubs iof england get to take the best players away for themselves, but what exactly are we supposed to hope for as fans of a club outside that group if we lose an academy product after only half a season in the premier league showing promise?

getn fkn sick of our football club,dont care about 35mil cos they wont spend even a tenth of that on a replacement , carrols in paper saying he dosent want to leave too, this is like selling alan shearer when his career was on the rise,,total lack of ambition by the club

I'd say Carroll is better than Villa right now. At least comparable. Put it this way, I'm not sure I'd accept a straight-up swap for Torres.
If there's any truth to this I have to point out that we're not being linked to any forward, anywhere. If we have to replace AC, we could do worse than Diego Forlan.

Its on SSN that Newcastle has rejected the improved offer. Its going to be a bumpy one but who knows. We get even more wedge or we make a real statement for the future, tell the @#$%& to f00k off and every one loves Ashley again. I wont be holding my breath for a pint of the f00ka though.
