The Carlton reserves lined up against the winless Frankston this week.

Both teams come out hard, both needing a win after starting the season slowly. It was a tough contest early, with Carlton starting the better, and constructing a handy three goal half time lead.

The Frankston boys come out firing after the long break, kicking 4 goals to 2, and giving them a real sniff for the final term. Carlton rookie Brett Thornton was thrown forward after starting at half back, kicking 3 important goals as the Blues pulled away to record an impressive 43 point win.

Among the best for the Blues were most of the senior players. Hotton was very good all day, marking strongly and getting the ball inside 50. Fevola started across halfback and was very busy in the first half. In fact, he was the best of the Carlton players in my opinion. As the game went on, Ross Lyon pushed him back into the forward line where he set up many goals and kicked 1 goal himself.

Aaron Sinnot was very impressive in the middle for the Blues. Jarrad Waite, who come to Carlton under the father son rule was also very impressive in the air while Andrew Eccles found some touch to also feature as one of the Blues best.

It was a great win for the Carlton boys, especially without injured captain Tim Fleming who has been great in the middle all year.

The Blues face the in form Murray Kangaroos Next Saturday at Coburg.
