England wicketkeeper and vice captain Matt Prior has been ruled out of the final warm up game ahead of the opening test, with a slight tear in his calf, and is now a doubt for the Brisbane test opener....
He suffered the injury in the drawn game with Australia 'A', in Hobart and his place will now be taken up by Jonny Bairstow, who could find himself behind the stumps in Brisbane.
Prior tried to put a positive spin on things, when he tweeted "Very disappointed to be missing game but doing everything possible to be ready for the 1st Test,"
Kevin Pietersen meanwhile watched on as England prepared indoors for the warm up game, which starts on Tuesday evening (GMT time 23:30).
They were forced out of the falling rain again, just as they had been in Hobart, with more wet weather forecast for the day before the game is due to commence.
Pietersen is expected to play in the game, although it remains to be seen if the injection in his knee will need more time to be accessed, but he did tweet that he was fine after flying into Melbourne for the needle!
