Frustrating Day for England

It turned into a frustating day for all, as England's test marathon of 2013 got off to a bad start when Rain washed out any chance of play in Dunedin...

There were rain showers forecast for the first part of the day, however clouds that rolled in during the coin toss, failed to clear enough during the day, and play was eventually called off.

England were forced into calling spinner Monty Panesar into the squad, when Graeme Swann was forced to pull out with the elbow injury which he talked about prior to the game.

And things didn't improve for Alastair Cook, when he lost the toss and was asked to bat by the Kiwi's.

However, the weather ensured that England will have to wait a day before starting their innings.

England: Cook (c) , Compton, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Root, Prior (wkt), Broad, Finn, Anderson, Panesar.

New Zealand: Fulton, Rutherford, Williamson, Taylor, Brownlie, McCullum (c), BJ Watling (wkt), Southee, Martin, Wagner, Boult.
