Compton Stakes Test Claim

By Dan Rankin
November 6 2012

Nick Compton staked a claim for a test place in the opening bout with India, with a well made 64 in the second warm up game ahead of the four match series....

After a couple of low scores, Compton finally came good against Mumbai 'A', in which England's bowlers once again got another good work out.

There was another injury scare, when vice captain Stuart Broad had to have a scan on a heel wound, but he should be fit for the opening test match during the middle of November.

There was another good performance from Samit Patel, who now looks set for the number six slot. He took three wickets and also made a fine 60 runs in England's opening innings.

England XI: Root, Compton, Bell, Trott, Anderson, Morgan, Bairstow (W), Broad (C), Patel, Panesar, Onions

England XI 1st Innings 345 for 9 (93.0 overs)

England XI 2nd Innings 149 for 2 (52.0 overs)

Mumbai A 1st Innings 286 all out (101.4 overs)
