Joey Barton will fave an old rival from his playing days as he faces Scott Brown who now manages Fleetwood Town.

The pair had a heated battle when Barton was at Glasgow Rangers and Brown was at Celtic , but Brown instists there will be no pre match hype from him.

“You play those mind games and can do whatever you want as players,” he said to the Daily Record. “But, as manager, it’s completely different now. You’ve got to have respect for your opponents and respect for your fellow managers.

“There won’t be any pre-match wind-ups whatsoever – from me anyway. We’ll be fine. "It’s about our teams doing the talking on the park.

“It’s a huge game – going away to Bristol will be tough, they’ve had some good recent results. We’ll look forward to that one but it’s not all about me, it’s about my players and I’ve got to help them be at their best.”

Brown came out on top 6 years ago the last time they meat with Celtic winning the Old Firm Derby 5-1, but Brown respects the job Barton has done at Rovers.

“Joey has done a great job,” said Brown. “He was a fantastic manager here at Fleetwood as well. He’s doing it now at Bristol Rovers."

Barton managed Fleetwood himself for around 2two and a half years, winning 51 of his 128 games in charge.
