  For those who like statistics, here are a few regarding our previous 10 meetings:

  3 Brentford wins

  3 Barnsley wins

  4 draws.

   

  At Oakwell earlier this season (November), Brentford beat us 0-1 courtesy of a goal from

  ex-Red Ivan Toney.

   

  Currently, Brentford are top of the league & are unbeaten in 10 league matches, winning 8

  & drawing 2 (winning the last 4 matches).

  all is lost, then?

   

  Well, let's not forget the last match of last season! Brentford playing for automatic

  promotion, us with an outside chance of survival. Brentford, playing their last league game

  at Griffin Park only needed to turn up to start the promotion party, right?

   

  Well .... here’s a brief take on how it unfolded:

  We deservedly took the lead but other scores were against us & we were still going to be

  relegated! It's the Barnsley way?

   

  Then, Brentford equalised (Nooooooo!). But other scores started to go our way! It's the

  Barnsley way?

   

  Then, we're in 8 minutes of added time & results had definitely gone our way! We just

  needed to score. Please let it become the Barnsley way!

   

  Then, up pops Patrick Schmidt to cross the ball across the 6 yard box & Clarke Oduor

  comes from nowhere (NOWHERE!) to put it into the net! We're winning!

   

  Six minutes of me shouting at the TV, “Blow Your Whistle” was apparently not a good look

  & unbecoming of someone my age!

   

  Nevertheless, it worked & the referee finally heard me & Blew His Whistle! We had stayed

  up against all odds!

   

  Now ...to this Sunday’s match. Can we yet again defy the odds & statistics & repeat the

  result? Yes, we can!

   

  Surely a Barnsley win is nailed on? After all, it is the Barnsley Way! Come on you Reds!!!!
